Kāpiti to Molesworth High Country Fly-In Tour
4-day tour

Avoid the long journey south and fly straight into the high country

This is perfect for those based in the lower North Island, who would have normally had to travel for a day or two to reach this amazing location. From Kāpiti, a scenic flight takes you from the coast into the heart of the high country. In 50 minutes, you’ll go from the coast to 800m above sea level, surrounded by wide open spaces, mountains and braided rivers. You’ll land on a working merino high country station, where you’ll stay for the next three nights.

From the moment you land, it feels like a different world. The landscapes and history in this part of NZ is something all kiwis need to experience.

Over the following days, we explore this remote region by 4WD, travelling across high country stations including Molesworth – New Zealand’s largest high country station. The landscapes are vast, the roads are gravel, and there is little to no cell coverage.

We travel through remote valleys, along riverbeds, and into places that few people reach, guided by someone who knows the country well. Along the way, you’ll meet locals, hear their stories, and gain an insight into life in these remote places.

We take care of all the logistics – flights, accommodation, meals and transport – so you can simply enjoy the experience.

Other important details

  • Molesworth accomodation. The modern shearer's quarters on Molesworth have shared bathrooms

  • Itinerary is subject to weather. We'll adapt the itinerary to make the best of what nature serves up to us, but for your safety and comfort, some activities may be changed, shortened or cancelled

  • Luggage. Maximum checked baggage is 12kg, plus a small carry on. This is due to the nature of landing and taking off on a shorter remote farm airstrip

  • Due to weather and / or aircraft weight, the flight may be cancelled or Blenheim maybe used as an alternate to Middlehurst Station. If Blenheim is used, we would provide vehicle transport to / from Blenheim.

  • Travel insurance is your responsibility. Delays due to weather or flight disruptions may require additional accommodation and meals at your own cost. Flight cancellation due to weather may not allow for a full refund, so travel insurance is highly recommended to cover such circumstances
