Rēkohu, or Chatham Islands, are one of the most intriguing and hauntingly beautiful archipelago in the South Pacific. Explore the island and its lagoon system, its weather, remoteness and fateful history have shaped the lives of all who live there.
Join us on a 8-day adventure into the beautiful Chatham Islands, a place steeped in diverse geology and known to the indigenous Moriori as “The Misty Sun”. Meet the locals and hear intriguing stories as you explore the island's many historical and natural highlights.

Includes a charter boat tour to the outer islands and a walk on the beach at Pitt Island, if weather permits. During this time you can view the offshore islands' unique and sometimes rare pelagic birdlife and do some fishing for 30 minutes.

Twin share at the beautiful Awarakau Lodge with our local hosts Greg and Rosemarie Horler. Note that two of the rooms are in the recently refurbished cottage. Rosemarie prepares all food, including a banquet of local kai moana and local delicacies such as weka!

Limited wifi is available at the lodge. There is now cell phone service on the island.
Other Details
Do you need help with organising transport, flights or travel insurance for your tour? We can refer you to a person who can organise your travel and travel insurance before and after your tour. Just let us know as early as possible.
Please note that as part of our supplier’s terms and conditions if we cannot leave the island on the scheduled day due to weather conditions you will have to pay $280 per person per night, includes all meals and airport transfers. Therefore travel insurance is required for this tour.
