Kāpiti to Golden Bay Fly-In Tour
5-day tour
Fly directly from Kāpiti to Golden Bay on a private scenic flight, then spend the week exploring with long-time Golden Bay locals as your guides.
Golden Bay is one of those places where having the right people show you around makes all the difference. Your guides for the week are the Pomeroys, a local farming family with deep connections to the area. Through the people they know and places they can access, you'll discover a side of Golden Bay that you simply wouldn't see travelling on your own.
Explore wild beaches, native forests and wetlands, with the Pomeroys taking you beyond the usual visitor spots and through locked gates to places you simply wouldn’t discover on your own. Journey out to remote Anatori and enjoy the spectacular drive through Whanganui Inlet. Explore Bainham, where the Pomeroys once farmed on the edge of Kahurangi National Park, and call into the famous Bainham Store – a much-loved local institution.
Visit Wharariki Beach, where seals can often be spotted playing in the waves, and see takahē at Triangle Flat. Spend time with the HealthPost Nature Trust and learn about the conservation work taking place around Farewell Spit and beyond, and discover NZ’s only commercial horopito farm and its traditional uses.
We'll also visit family-owned Kiwi Spirit Distillery, where you'll enjoy a tasting and discover an unexpected Golden Bay story – the distillery grows Weber Blue Agave and produces New Zealand's only Tequilana spirit.
At the end of each day, return to the comfort of Zatori, overlooking the beautiful Golden Bay coastline near Collingwood.
With private return scenic flights from Kāpiti, local guides and a small group, this is an easy and very personal way to experience Golden Bay – going beyond the usual visitor stops and meeting the people who call this special part of New Zealand home.
