ARTHUR'S PASS TOUR
- Alpine Flora and Fauna
5 Day Tour to Arthurs Pass
South Island, NZ
Join alpine flora enthusiasts and wildlife photographer Will Parsons on another fun and informative eco tour to the South Island's Arthur's Pass and surrounding alpine areas. No experience is required, it is all about sharing and learning about the little and not so little creatures and flora at your feet or above your head.
Will is an avid follower of nature conservation and well known for his New Zealand bird, flora and landscape photography spanning many decades. Having owned and guided Driftwood Eco Tours for well over a decade, he is great at telling stories of the events of New Zealand’s early farming and pioneering days.
On this summer alpine expedition you will be driven to the mountain tops of Canterbury’s ski fields to discover alpine flora and learn their names. These little jewels of nature make you feel like you are on a treasure hunt. With the help of our guide books, you will learn the names of the species with guidance from Will, who will also offer you some tips on macro and bird photography.
No great fitness is necessary, while on the mountain you will have breath taking views over Canterbury. With a bit of luck you will have a chance to photograph the kea, our cheeky alpine parrot.
We have booked The Bealey Hotel bordering on the Arthur's Pass National Park for four nights, so you will have no packing and unpacking. The lodge will provide our evening meals, packed lunches and breakfasts so you won't have to worry about a thing, just come along and enjoy yourself and make some new friends.
